Listens for the acoustic bounce of a discharge and marks the exact metre the fault sits beneath.
About the instrument
Pin-pointing follows the initial fault investigation and helps focus the final search. Talk to CSD about your existing surge equipment, site noise and cable conditions to discuss the right arrangement for your crew.

Once the fault has been pre-located to a stretch of road, the pin-pointer finds the exact spot. It listens through the ground for the sound of each surge breaking down at the fault.
By comparing that sound with the magnetic pulse of the same surge, it tells the operator whether the fault is ahead or behind — so the road is opened once, in the right place.
Listens for the acoustic bounce of a discharge and marks the exact metre the fault sits beneath. The final configuration, accessories and operating method should be reviewed against the actual application and site procedures.

Designed for the conditions where the measurement happens.
